I invite readers to comment voluminously with agreement, disagreement, alternate theories. I also am very willing to post the speculations of others if submitted to me via selle.castaigneda@gmail.com. If you have a blog or website you'd like to have listed here, please let me know. Bite The Hand That Feeds You - Sookie and Tara Karmic Interaction

In the first season, Sookie meets a mysterious, attractive vampire (Bill) and falls under his sway. He presents himself as having the very best of intentions (but we later find out he has a secret morally shameful reason for initiating contact). When she is being accosted in the parking lot of Merlotte's (by the Rattrays), he comes to her rescue. Later, her Gran is murdered because of her association with this vampire. The killer was lying in wait for Sookie but when her Gran arrives instead of Sookie, Gran is killed. Tara judges and cautions Sookie for her relationship with Bill. This sets up the karmic cause and effect. Because Tara judges Sookie, she will experience the same set of circumstances as Sookie, the same temptations, and will experience the same effects.

In the third season, Tara will meet a mysterious, attractive vampire (Franklin Mott) and she falls under his sway. He presents himself as having the very best of intentions (but we later find out he has a secret and morally shameful reason for initiating contact). When she is being accosted in the parking lot of Merlotte's (by the rednecks from the bar --this has already been spoilered via a casting call), he comes to her rescue. Later, her mother is murdered because of her association with this vampire. Whether or not the killer was lying in wait for Tara but when her mother arrives instead of Tara, her mother is killed or her mother defends her and is killed in the process, she will be lost to Tara just as Gran is lost to Sookie.

ALL OF THIS CAME TRUE EXCEPT THE PART ABOUT LETTIE MAE BEING KILLED BECAUSE OF TARA'S ASSOCIATION WITH VAMPIRES.

Expedient Behaviors - Lafayette and Bill Correlation

In the first season, Lafayette has a secret job as an entrepeneur (prostitution, selling V, porno website). What he does in his entrepeneur job would be morally questionable or deplorable to those he associates with in his other jobs so he doesn't tell them and keeps it a secret. He feels compelled to do this job because he feels he's at a disadvantage because of his station in life, and feels he has no choice but to be an entrepeneur if he wants to 'get ahead'. He feels the job is acceptable but things start to go wrong, including the death of an innocent person who is killed because of association with him [Eddie is murdered]. Eventually, he is kidnapped because of this job.

Bill is shown to be corollary to Lafayette. Bill also has a secret job. His is working for the Queen cultivating Sookie to be the Queen's telepath and to possibly be used for other nefarious purposes, also yet to be revealed. What Bill does in this job would be morally questionable or deplorable to those with whom he associates so he doesn't tell them and he keeps it a secret. He feels compelled to do this job because he feels he's at a disadvantage because of his station in life [the vampire hierarchy puts him low on the totem pole], and feels he has no choice but to be do this job if he wants to 'get ahead'. He feels the job is acceptable but things start to go wrong, including the death of an innocent person who is killed because of her association with him [Gran is murdered]. Eventually, he is kidnapped because of this job.

THIS PREDICTION CAME TRUE.

Kidnapped and Tortured - Lafayette and Bill Correlation

Lafayette was captured by someone (Eric) who believed him to be a threat to their way of life (because of Lafayette selling V). None of the people left behind in Bon Temps knew where he was, if he'd left voluntarily, nor did they find any clues confirming he'd been kidnapped. Lafayette escaped from captivity and thought he was free, only to be recaptured soon after his escape (by Ginger). After recapture, he tried to bargain for his release but his offer was met only with mild interest. He was then pierced with sharp objects (vamp teeth) and was feasted upon by others. He was then returned to his jail area. He was later freed after his freedom was negotiated by another person.

Bill was captured by someone who believes him to be a threat to their way of life (kidnapping happened already, he was taken from the restaurant when dining out with Sookie in Epi 12 of S2). None of the people left behind in Bon Temps know where he is, if he's left voluntarily, nor do they find any clues confirming he's been kidnapped. He escapes from captivity and thinks he is free, only to be recaptured soon after his escape. After recapture, he tries to bargain for his release but his offer is met only with mild interest. He will then be pierced with sharp objects and will be feasted upon by others. He will then be returned to his jail area. He will later be freed after his freedom is negotiated by another person.

OOPS. THIS ONE DID NOT COME TRUE.

Killing to Save - Correlations for Eric and Jason

JASON: Jason killed a person [Eggs] whom he believed was about to kill (with a pointed object) someone [Andy] who previously thought ill of him. [Andy previously thought ill of Jason]. The person whom he saved [Andy] provides him with a fictitious and believable alibi to help him avoid trouble.

ERIC: Eric will kill a person whom he believes is about to kill (with a pointed object or objects, fangs) someone who previously thought ill of him. The person whom he saves provides him with a fictitious and believable alibi to help him avoid trouble. Wildcard correlation would be that Eric will kill the person with one blow, just like Jason used one shot from the gun. I believe the person Eric kills will be Lorena or the Queen, most likely Lorena.

Involvement With a Maniac - Correlations for Eric and Jason

JASON: Jason was engaged by a maniac [Steve Newlin] to help support a secret and dangerous agenda. Jason came to see the truth of the agenda and extricated himself in the nick of time to avoid being viewed as a traitor to another very powerful faction [vampires] who would have the power to kill him at a later date.

ERIC: Eric is being engaged by a maniac [Queen Sophie Ann] to help support a secret and dangerous agenda [selling V]. He will come to see the truth of the agenda and extricates himself in the nick of time to avoid being viewed as a traitor to another very powerful faction [probably vampires, but leaving this open] who would have the power to kill him at a later date.

Eddie’s Death – Godric’s Death – Correlations for Eric and Jason

In S1, Jason witnessed a gentle person die a needless and horrifying death precipitated by the aggressions of a self-important woman. He was unable to prevent the death although he tried. He was very grieved at the loss. The woman was later murdered by someone who hated what he believed she represented. [Rene murdered Amy because he hated what she represented to him.]

In S2, Eric witnessed the death of a gentle person precipitated by the aggressions of a self-important woman. He was very grieved at the loss. What will happen next? I speculate that Nan will be murdered in S3 at the hands of Steve Newlin, who hates her for what she represents just like Amy was murdered by Rene.

Now, it's possible that the mirror image here [Eric's enactment] will be everything the same but indirect, looser so to speak. Hence, Godric died as an Innocent but not at the direct hand of the aggressive woman. Therefore, it could be that Nan would be murdered not at Steve's direct hand but at his direction or the independent actions of his followers, but he would need to be considered influential on their actions, even if only by ideology he espouses.

Rescue of Something Precious – Correlation of Jason and Eric’s paths, Symbolism

Borrowed the term “Precious” from Lord of the Rings, but it’s not a ring here. It’s something of great value to the holder.

JASON [happened in S2; Jason’s Precious is Sookie] - Something of great value to Jason is taken and is being held by someone evil (Steve Newlin) who is in league with an unwitting but somewhat cowtowed (to the evil one) and complicit short-term lover (Sarah) of Jason’s. Jason becomes a crucial member of the team in rescuing his Precious. During the course of rescuing his Precious, he becomes like a different man, finding a new inner core. After a short while, circumstances return to normal and Jason returns to the previous life he missed so much, only to find he cannot approach it with his previous zeal. He is haunted by previous events. He sees people who, logically-speaking, should be dead given their wounds, and yet they’re animated. [the college coeds in whose heads he see bullet holes]

Sarah fell in love with Jason, but felt jilted and scorned when he left her behind to save his own skin from a serious threat. She felt bitterness towards Jason. She is in league with the person who takes Jason’s Precious but is mostly just along for the ride in this scenario.

ERIC [yet to happen; Eric’s Precious is his memory, command of his Area, and his super-fierce persona] - Something of great value to Eric is taken and is being held by someone evil (Hallow character) who is in league with an unwitting but somewhat cowtowed (to the evil one) and complicit short-term lover (Yvette). Eric becomes a crucial member of the team in rescuing his Precious. During the course of rescuing his Precious, he becomes like a different man, finding a new inner core. After a short while, circumstances return to normal and Eric returns to the previous life he missed so much, only to find he cannot approach it with his previous zeal. He is haunted by previous events. He sees people who, logically-speaking, should be dead given their wounds, and yet they’re animated. [vampires, but somehow, he notices more acutely now that they’re dead people walking]

Yvette falls in love with Eric, but feels jilted and scorned when he leavs her behind to save his own skin from a serious threat. She feels bitterness towards Eric. She is in league with the person who takes Eric’s Precious but is mostly just along for the ride in this scenario.
